SIX DIRECTIONS
INDIGENOUS SCHOOL
OUR PLANNING YEAR
GOVERNING COUNCIL
SDIS's Governing Council will provide leadership and oversite during the planning year, ensuring that all aspects of planning and preparing to open an excellent school are carried out. In particular, the GC will become an approved board of finance, pass all school policies, prepare budget projections for the first year of operations, and recruit and hire a Head Administrator. The GC also advises and provides direction for the work of Lane Towery, the lead organizer of SDIS.
In order to include more community perspectives in our work and to delegate different aspects of of our school design work, the Governing Council has created five ad-hoc committees for our planning year, as detailed below. All commitee meetings, like GC meetings, are open to the public.
The Governing Council meets every other Wednesday at 5:30pm at NIYLP's office, 305 Sunde St. Gallup.
